Cloud Computing

Introduction to Cloud Computing
Cloud Computing is a computing paradigm in which dynamically scalable hosting infrastructure (servers, bandwidth, firewalls ..) is provided to customers as a service. The idea behind cloud hosting is to give customers a resource that is highly scalable, reliable and available. For example, a particular website which consists of two servers may require an additional two other servers to handle the load of a new product launch in a particular month. Cloud Computing is perfect for such a website as one can purchase cpu, ram and other resources equivalent to an additional two servers for the month of the product launch.
How does it benefit the customer ?
Cloud Computing offers the SME the availability of enterprise class infrastructure (Server Clusters, Blades, Routers, SANs, Firewalls etc) without the need to actually invest in the required capital expendiure. You pay only for the additional resources when you need it. This reduces your total operational cost and allows you to squeeze savings out of your IT Budget. You save on IT manpower too - there is no need to invest in costly man power to maintain and manage otherwise expensive setup of of servers, blades and other capital equipment.
Cloud Computing Benefits:
- Since you can scale dynamically, you pay only for the additional resources as and when you need it.
- Lowers Total Cost of Ownership
- Easy availability of enterprise class managed hosting services without having to pay for the full infrastructure.
- No need to invest in IT personnel to maintain a full set of IT infrastructure
What runs the Cloud ?
The Webvisions Cloud is an infrastructure consisting of enterprise class hardware and software running together to provide itself as a service to our customers. We utilize VMware's ESX Virtual Infrastructure to deliver cost-effective, reliable & scalable Virtual Machines. A Virtual Machine is a server dedicated to a customer carved out from a cluster of blades or high performance servers. All Virtual Machines will connect to our fault tolerant Cisco Gigabit network to deliver outstanding uptimes. Virtual Machines also have plug and play access to a multitude of services including our Virtualized SAN storage, Backup Servers, Virtualized Firewalls, Virtualized Load Balancers as well as a whole suite of Managed Hosting Services backed by Webvisions' Team of engineers.
To take it a notch higher, Webvisions Cloud Computing solution comes optional with a fully redundant, High Availability (HA) setup. This solution is designed with VMware HA and VMware Vmotion technologies, clustered blades or high performance servers and a high speed Virtualized SAN. If any server fails, all virtual machines running on a failed server automatically restart on another server within the same cluster with NO changes to your applications or databases!

Webvisions Cloud Computing is ideal for:
- Event driven websites that need to scale dynamically
- Businesses that require enterprise class hosting services without having to invest heavily in capital expenditure
Overview
What is Webvisions Cloud Computing?
Using VMware ESX/ESXi virtualization technology, Webvisions creates multiple isolated Virtual Machines (VMs) on a physical server with isolated hardware, operating systems, network & storage (SAN). Each Virtual Machine is a fully customizable, virtualized environment that you launch, maintain, and control with full root access:
- Virtualized Hardware:
Hardware resources within the physical server are further distributed and configured to each isolated VM. Each VM performs and executes exactly like a stand-alone server. Users can fully manage the VM with full root access to reboot their VM independently.
- Virtualized Operating System:
Each VM within a physical server will be capable of installing your choice of Linux or Windows operating system individually.
- Virtualized Network:
Each of our VM will be setup in an isolated virtual network using VLAN. The virtual network has the same attributes as a physical network, but it allows for end stations to be grouped together even if they are not located on the same network switch. By using VLAN, one can control traffic patterns and react quickly to relocations, as you will no longer require to physically relocate devices. VLAN provide the flexibility to adapt to changes in network requirements and allow for simplified administration.
- Virtualized SAN Storage:
Each VM will have an isolated virtual storage that is setup within a reliable, high availability SAN Storage infrastructure, instead of a physical hard disk storage. With virtualized SAN storage you can easily manage, copy, mirror, and swap data within the storage box and across the storage area network (SAN).
